ETF Approval Tomorrow Changes Everything - FED 158
Hosts: Ansel Lindner and Nolan Bauerle
Fed Watch is a macro podcast with a clear contrarian thesis of a deflationary breakdown of the financial system and globalization leading to bitcoin adoption. We question common narratives and schools of thought in search of new understanding. central banks and currencies.
In this episode, Nolan Bauerle and I discuss the Grayscale win versus the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). We go through what the experts are saying, what Grayscale's timeline is now, and what we think is the effect on eventual approval of the group of spot ETFs. Other topics include Chairman Powell's speech at Jackson Hole and German industry leaving the country. Lastly, we cover the military coup in Gabon, and the eight coups in Africa since 2020.
Takeaways from Chairman Powell's Jackson Hole speech were multiple confirmation of 2% being the "inflation" target now and in the future, as well as his infamous quote, "navigating by the stars in cloudy skies." I thought they were supposed to be "quantitative", but turns out they are winging it.
German industry is fleeing. A recent survey done in Germany showed 43% of industrial companies with more than 500 employees (the heart of the German economy) have plans to leave, with 36% already in the process. Their biggest complaint is regulatory policy and they think climate policy is unbearable.
